Introduction

Supports the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200 V6/ V5 Product Family
Formerly known as Greenlow, this new generation of single socket server and workstation processors is based on the 14nm process technology but comes with the new Skylake microarchitecture.

Among the main features of this new product family is the adoption of the DDR4 memory technology within the Xeon E3 line of processors, which brings a significant memory speed and capacity boost over the previous generation (up to 64GB at 2133MHz). The other big new feature is the increase of the number and speed of PCIe lanes available from 8 Gen2 lanes to up to 20 Gen3 lanes, which allows much wider board configuration possibilities.

2-Way Graphics Supported
For applications requiring heavy computing acceleration, the MW31-SP0 can receive up to 2 computing cards (Intel Xeon Phi, NVIDIA Tesla, AMD FirePro) or 2 GPU cards working together via the NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire technologies. The MW31-SP0 is an ideal product to build a fully optimized dual GPU professional workstation for applications such as:

- 3D modeling, rendering, animation, and other graphics heavy applications.
- Audio & video production & post-production.
- Small scale scientific analysis and simulations.

Dedicated Expansion Card Slot
This motherboard uses a mezzanine card slot with 4 PCI-Express lanes with custom mounting socket to receive one of our proprietary expansion cards (see bottom of page). Positioned right between the CPU socket and its rear I/O, it can add additional ports and controllers to the board's configuration and fit into a larger range of user scenarios.

DDR4 Memory Support
The Intel Xeon E3-1200 V5 product family is the first generation of Xeon E3 processors to support the DDR4 memory technology. Compared to DDR3, this new generation brings:

M.2 Slot Onboard
The MW31-SP0 comes equipped with an onboard M.2 slot, providing users PCI-Express connectivity for SSD devices. Delivering up to 10 Gb/s data transfer speeds, M.2 offers users considerably faster storage performance than current mSATA and even SATA Revision 3 (6Gb/s) storage devices.

The M.2 slot of this motherboard supports cards up to 80mm length and 20mm width, and the following specifications:

- M.2 PCIe SSD Cards up to 10Gb/s
- M.2 SATA SSD Cards up to 6Gb/s
